PLAYING EQUIPMENT APPEAL

Stithians Parish Council (SPC) are Trustees and the guardians of the playing field. We have been working towards major improvements to the playing facilities for all age groups. Recently we have undertaken the following improvements:-

Toddler Play Area
Super Zip Wire
Youth Goal Posts

We have launched an appeal for donations to help fund these exciting projects for the benefit of our young and not so young people. Our target is to raise £10,000 whilst we look for match funding or other grants which may be available. We are happy to accept donations from businesses who will be fully acknowledged on this page.

We also welcome donations from groups or individuals in the community or even proceeds from organised events.

Donations

Thank you Anonymous

An anonymous donor has purchased and donated a set of youth goal posts and we wasted no time in getting them installed. Will Thomas kindly erected the very posh looking goal posts and children were kicking balls through them before he had finished work. As you can see they are very popular with the children. There are nets available if groups want to organise formal competitions etc.

Thank you Local Residents and Businesses

In addition to the kind donation of the goal posts, we have received contributions amounting to £7,065.27 (as at 1st August) so far.

In addition to business donations, various fund raising events several local people have made generous donations to the fund. See below for details of the great fundraising efforts to date.

If you are considering running an event please let us know what type of event you are planning and when. We can then help you publicise the event in a number of ways. Contact Phil on 07591 143 621 or email cllrpblease@stithiansparishcouncil.org.uk.

We also welcome donations or pledges from local businesses. If you run a local business and are able to help in someway we can promise you a lot of exposure in future communications.

Thank you WI Patchwork Group

The latest donation to the appeal has come from the WI Patchwork Group who created a beautiful quilt with a very ducky theme. After many hours of detailed work the beautiful quilt was created and the group decide to raffle it with the help of local shops. Many tickets were sold. The lucky winner drawn at random was Kim Hill who was delighted at receiving the quilt. Overall the group raised £130 which was presented to Phil Blease at the Patchwork Group meeting on 25th September 2019.

Thank you Raison Opticians

We received a very generous donation by a local business based in Helston. The business is Raison Opticians, the owners of the business live in the parish and this is not the first time the business has made generous donations to fund raising events in Stithians. The Parish Council is very appreciative of this support.

Thank you Stithians Baby and Toddler Group

Thank you Childminders

The second toddler contribution was an amazing £524 raised by a local child minder Jenny Nuciforo who took part in a sponsored toddle with the Falmouth district childminders and all their children. The children along with their childminders walked a mile around Kimberly park, finishing with a picnic in the park. Jenny collected money from the childminders and also lots of the parents in the village.

The Parish Council is very appreciative of this support. Well done Jenny.

Thank you Councillors and Volunteers

On Monday 15th July 2019 Stithians Parish Councillors arranged a retiring collect at Stithians Show. We were joined by community volunteers to collect money as people left the Show. A logistic nightmare as there are 3 gates to cover all afternoon in the blazing sun.

But it was certainly worth it as we raised £700 in loose change. We also received an old shilling, 2.5 euros, 5 US cents and a kroner. Anyone going on holiday soon give us a call.

We would like to thank Stithians Show committee for granting permission for the collection. Also in addition to all the councillors that took part we must thank our band of community volunteers without whom the collection would not have been nearly as successful. The volunteers included Alice West, Cath Hearne, Charlie, Will & Kimberley Jones, Anthea Colgate, Jane LePage, Nike & Lou Hayden, Judie & Geoff Street, Luci Isaacson. Many of these volunteers also involved their children in the collection and we would like to thank them also.
